Frequently asked questions

Application, maintenance, warranty: our answers

Find answers to your questions about our Plasti Dip services: application, maintenance or benefits, our FAQ gives you all the information you need.

Can I go to the car wash?

Wait 5 days after your Dip before washing your vehicle. After that, no problem. At an automatic car wash, choose the basic wash, not the most expensive one: wax soap can, over time, damage plastic, Dip or vinyl.

How long does Plasti Dip last?

Plasti Dip can easily last 3 years or more without touch-ups. Spray technique and the number of coats strongly affect how long it lasts. A refresh coat can be added if needed.

Does it hold up to Quebec weather (sun, winter)?

Plasti Dip is very resistant to the elements: sun, ice, cold, salt. Many clients dip their wheels and cars precisely to protect the original surfaces during winter.

How does Plasti Dip react to gasoline?

Plasti Dip is solvent-based and does not resist gasoline. Be careful when filling up. We strongly recommend the Dip Guard protector, which fits almost every fuel door.

Does it really come off?

Yes. We apply at least 6 coats, for durability and so it peels off in big pieces the day you want to remove it.

Can Plasti Dip damage my clear coat?

Xtreme Dip and its clients have used Plasti Dip on vehicles since 2012, and it protects the original paint.

How do I wash dipped areas?

By hand, with our care products (wax-free soap or Dip Wash, then DIP COAT). See the Maintenance page.

How do I keep my Plasti Dip in perfect condition?

Several products are available (see the Products page). They give your Plasti Dip a smoother feel that helps resist scuffs, scratches and stains, and makes it easier to clean.

Can you tint headlights and tail lights?

Yes, Plasti Dip tints lights very well. We apply 2 coats for a roughly 50% tinted look: more coats would not be road-legal.

Will Plasti Dip protect my wheels from salt and snow?

Yes. Plasti Dip is extremely resistant to ice, cold and salt. Many clients dip their wheels and vehicles precisely to protect the original surfaces during winter.

Can I get a satin finish?

Yes: for a shiny finish, look at our colours in the Pearl and HyperShift categories. We also apply 2 coats of clear, matte or gloss top coat.

How many coats do you apply?

Always a minimum of 6 coats (6 to 12 depending on the colour). What matters most is the total amount of product used.

Is there a warranty?

Yes, 12 months on your Dip. The warranty covers product that didn't bond properly or that bubbles. It does not cover scratches, fading colour, or damage caused by someone. Contact us as soon as possible: warranty claims are a priority, with an appointment within 24 hours.

Do you have prices?

The price depends on your vehicle and the parts to do. We're not doing quotes right now: the price is confirmed in person at your appointment. Book an appointment or reach us at 514-241-0891 or contact@xtremedip.ca.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept debit and credit.

Is a deposit required?

Only if the colour you choose isn't in stock and has to be ordered: the deposit is then $400 for a full vehicle.

Do you do wraps, PPF or window tint?

No. We don't do wraps, PPF, window tint, bodywork, real paint or caliper painting, and we don't Dip vehicle interiors. Our specialty: exterior Plasti Dip.
